Underline that stays with the text
A word processor underline is a formatting flag, and it disappears when you paste into a plain-text field. This tool puts the line into the characters themselves, so it survives copy and paste. The cost is that every letter becomes a letter plus a combining mark, which screen readers may read out awkwardly and search may not match, so use it for a few words rather than whole paragraphs.

What breaks, and what usually does not
- The underline is a combining character, so it needs app support. Most modern chat apps draw it; a few show a stray mark after each letter.
- Letters with descenders (g, j, p, q, y) can collide with the line, which looks slightly untidy at small sizes.
- Discord has its own underline markdown (__text__) for messages. Unicode underline is for places where markdown does not run, such as display names.
- WhatsApp has no underline of its own, so pasted Unicode underline is the way to get one there.

Why does the line look broken under some letters?
Letters like g, j, p, q and y have tails that cross the underline. Try the double underline, or underline only the words that matter.
Can I underline and cross out the same word?
You can, but the two marks overlap and become hard to read. Pick one effect per word.
