Same text as above — compare styles side by side and copy any row.

Boxed letters only

This page boxes each letter in a square. It does not make round bubble letters, which belong to the bubble text generator, or the wider mixed collection on the cool text generator. Use it when you specifically want a blocky, square look.

How to use the square text generator

  1. Type a short word or phrase. Boxed letters are wide, so one to three words is a comfortable length.
  2. Compare the outlined, solid and keycap rows. The outlined and solid rows are the dependable ones.
  3. Tap Copy, paste into a bio, name, caption or chat, and check how the letters look on the screen your readers will use.

Where boxed letters help

  • Short headings and labels in Instagram or Telegram bios
  • Game clan tags and team names that should stand out in a list
  • Event, sale or room labels in captions and chat announcements
  • Quiz, riddle and Wordle-style posts that need blocky letters

What breaks, and what usually does not

  • Squared letters come from the Enclosed Alphanumeric Supplement block. Recent phones, Windows, macOS and browsers draw them, but older devices may show empty boxes.
  • A few solid squares, namely A, B, O and P, are also emoji. Some phones draw them in a red or blue color instead of as plain black letters.
  • Only letters are boxed. Numbers, spaces and punctuation stay normal, so a mixed line can look uneven.
  • Keycap letters rely on a combining mark that many apps draw badly, so they are the least reliable row.
  • Boxed letters are special characters. Screen readers may announce them oddly, and search or find-in-page may not match them to normal words.

What square text is

Square text uses letters from the Unicode blocks that hold enclosed alphanumerics. In these blocks every Latin letter has a twin drawn inside a square, either outlined or filled. When you paste them, they are normal characters, not an image.

Because they look like labels or tiles, people use them for short headings and gaming names, and for puzzle-style posts where each letter is meant to feel like a block.

Outlined, solid or keycap: how to choose

  • Choose outlined squares for a light look that sits well next to normal text.
  • Choose solid squares for a bold tag that you want to see at a glance. Check the A, B, O and P on your phone.
  • Choose keycap letters only after you test them. They are the first style to fall apart on a different device.

Tips for names and captions

  • Boxed letters are capitals, so lowercase input is shown as capitals in the boxes.
  • Keep tags short. Six to ten boxed letters read well, while a long sentence becomes hard to scan.
  • Mix one boxed word with normal text. A whole bio in boxes is tiring to read.
  • If a game or app strips the characters, fall back to a bold style, which is more widely accepted.

Frequently asked questions

What is a square text generator?

It converts your letters into Unicode characters drawn inside squares, in outlined or solid form, so you can copy and paste boxed lettering.

Are square letters emoji?

Mostly no. They are text characters. A few solid ones (A, B, O and P) are also emoji, so some phones show them in color.

Why do I see empty boxes instead of letters?

The device or app does not have a font that includes that character. Try the outlined row, update the device, or use a bold style instead.

Do numbers go inside squares too?

Not in these rows. Only letters are boxed. Numbers and punctuation keep their normal shape.

Can I use boxed letters in a username?

Usually not. Most usernames and @handles allow only plain letters, numbers and a few symbols. Use boxed letters in the display name or the bio.

Which row is the safest to paste?

The outlined squared row, followed by the solid row. The keycap row is the least reliable, so test it before you publish.
